This website, my-dui-lawyer.com is just a newsfeed site, and the “real” and “proper” DUI resource website is on its way, and is scheduled to launch this week, probably right on Thanksgiving Day. The new site will be a directory and a resource for all those poor souls who have been pulled over and charged with a DUI, DWI, OAI, OWI, or whatever ackronym (sp) designates someone “driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other medical conditions”. On the new and upcoming website, people who are looking for drunk driving lawyers or DUI / DWI lawyers as they’re commonly called, will be able to quickly put in the state, county, and city of their DUI encounter and be immediately taken to a list of DUI attorneys that serve that particular area. Each attorney’s listing will have various important information, such as whether they offer a free initial consultation, do they accept monthly payment plans for their services, do they have specific DUI case experience (i.e. they’re not just a generic criminal lawyer but they have SPECIFIC experience in the area that you care about), and more.

In the spirit of providing as much information as possible, the my-dui-laywer.com website will also provide quite a bit of information about all aspects of DUI, including how chemical tests (breathalyzers), blood tests, and field sobriety tests work, the various laws that govern DWI / DUI arrests in every state in the United States, and a whole lot more. Of course, the average person who is charged with this crime probably won’t have much of an interest in researching all this info, but if the information helps them come to an informed decision and helps them to find a better-suited and more caring drunk driving attorney, then it has served it’s purpose.

Something important to note for attorneys wishing to join the directory… We are offering a FREE listing to any and all DUI lawyers that wish to be listed. The listing in our dwi directory is free until one of two things happens. Either the lawyer gets 2 confirmed leads where the client actually makes a sit down, in person consultation, comes in and completes the consult, or if 6 people fill out the “contact me” form on our site for a particular attorney and the information is valid. This way, as a DUI attorney, you only pay for results, not speculation. Once you’ve met either limit, the listing will cost approximately $299 a month, and we’re going to be featuring 2 types of listings - premium listings ($399 – larger ones) and regular listings (the $299 a month ones).

We don’t want to flood each state or city’s list of lawyers, so we’re going to limit the number of lawyers appearing on a particular page to 7. One will be a premium listing, at the top, and the other 6 will be regular listings. This limitation is specifically designed to ensure that your listing doesn’t get lost in a sea of competing DUI attorneys and you have a fair and good chance of getting substantial referrals and business from the website.

Unless the lawyer properly and completely has your cases “expunged”, the record will follow you forever. The actual DUI cases get reported to other government agencies and private investigative agencies. An attorney would have to find every location of your DUI information, and name them in the expungement case. That would include the arresting agency (police), the State criminal records agency, the FBI, etc., and then there are the private agencies like Choicepoint, your insurance company, etc.

You MUST ask your attorney how he will “clear” this up, AND how he can document that ALL of your records have been deleted.

You can look up attorneys who specialize in DUI Defnese in the Yellow Pages or you can go to The County Law library and look up attorneys in the Martindal Hubble Directory of Attorneys

Ask each attorney about his experience with DUI cases.

How many cases has he defended recently. What was the outcome of those cases.

Also a good interview question is to ask the attorney if you were not available to defend me, please give me the names of three attorneys that you respect and would recommend that I contact to ask them to defend me.

After you have done this you will have a very good idea fo what your prospects are and who the best attorneys are.

You will know much better who the good DUI attorneys are in your area than anyone here on this web site.

I do recommend that you hire a good attorney with a substantial amount of recent successful experience in the Defense of DUI.

One thing to keep in mind is that Blood Alcohol levels as measured by the Police are often 50% higher than the true Blood Alcohol level when measured by a reputable Medical Laboratory.

However it takes a very good and experienced attorney to make that defense successfully for you.

That alone often means the difference between a conviction and an acquittal.

The consequences of a DUI conviction are devastating. It is very important that you hire the best attorney that you can find.

i would like to know my options with the public defender first before wasting my money on a high priced lawyer. how can i go about this? Can public defenders reduce duis to a wet and wreckless or am i better off hiring an attorney for that? This is my first DUI in CA.

You will seem much more intelligent to everybody if you refer to a “wet reckless.” There is no “and” and “wreckless” would refer to driving without wrecks, which we all want. The phrase refers to a reckless driving plea when the charge involves the use of alcohol.

Public defenders ARE lawyers, and in the ordinary DUI case have as much expertise and experience as any street lawyer, and more than most. However, if you can afford to hire counsel, then you will not qualify for representation by the PD. If the PD is appointed, and you are somehow able to hire counsel, that attorney can substitute in.
